1. NZ deployments to Deepwater Horizon response
Two members of the MPRS team headed off to the United States in late May to assist with the Deepwater Horizon oil spill response.

2. Spillcon 2010
In April, a number of MNZ personnel and members of New Zealand's National Response Team, attended Spillcon 2010 – Asia-Pacific's Oil Spill Prevention and Preparedness Conference.

3. Taranaki exercise
An exercise held in Taranaki in April saw more than 50 people over two days responding to a scenario involving a collision between a support boat and an oil tanker berthed off the port.

4. Northland exercise
In Northland, a multi-agency exercise was held on Bream Bay's sandy beaches in May – the first time a land-based clean-up exercise has been held in New Zealand.

5. Tasman District readiness
The coastal freighter Anatoki grounded in Golden Bay in May, with 19 tonnes of diesel and 500 litres of lube oil on board.

6. Regional council workshop
This year's Regional Council Workshop will be held at Marsden Point, hosted by the Northland Regional Council and co-hosted by the New Zealand Refining Company.
